Camping Personal Equipment List

  • Class A Boy Scout uniform (shirt, neckerchief, hat )
  • Class B Uniform (Troop T-Shirt) Please wear your Class B Shirt on Friday Evening
  • Scout Handbook
  • Flashlight (check batteries)
  • Notebook & pen
  • Pocket Knife (must have earned Totin’ Chip card first)
  • Compass / whistle (optional for Camporee)
  • Watch
  • Water bottle (refillable)
  • Sleeping bag, should be of good quality and of a temperature rating suitable for expected temperatures
  • Sleeping mat for ground insulation.
  • Folding camp chair (each scout needs their own in they want to sit down)
  • Backpack and/or Duffel Bag
  • Toilet kit with:
    • Toothbrush & toothpaste
    • Comb/Hairbrush
    • Deodorant
    • Soap & Shampoo
    • Towel
    • Sunscreen
  • Camper Clothing (please remember to pack extra clothing/footwear if rain is forecasted)
  • Underwear (& long johns if cold)
  • Socks (plus 1 extra pair)
  • Shirt (plus 1 extra)
  • Pants or shorts (most scouts live in their scout pants/shorts during camping trips)
  • Sleeping shorts or sweats
  • Hiking boots or other appropriate footwear
  • Windbreaker, jacket or coat
  • Rain poncho or other appropriate outerwear (can be inexpensive light plastic)
  • Hat and (if necessary) gloves

NO electronics!

As a reminder, the troop provides the cooking gear, mess gear, dining fly, and lighting for the camp site. Feel free to use this as a pre-camping checklist (you can find a list just like this in your Boy Scout Handbook). The Troop does have some tents and Scouts may bring their own.
